Uroxatral is a medicine specially developed for treating symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).This medicine is alpha-blocker. It blocks receptors in the lower urinary tract causing prostate to relax, this improves the urine flow.
Mostly it is used by men with an enlarged prostate. Sometimes Alfuzosin may be prescribed for other purposes.
Use Uroxatral (Alfuzosin) the way it was told to you by your doctor. However there are several rules of using Alfuzosin:
- Uroxatral (Alfuzosin) is taken orally with food. It is recommended to take Alfuzosin at the same time every day.
- Alfuzosin must be swallowed whole. Do not break, crush, or chew Alfuzosin tablets before swallowing.
- Take Uroxatral (Alfuzosin) regularly and by certain schedule directed by your doctor.
If you missed a dose of Uroxatral, take it as soon as you remember, but if it is too late and it is time for you to take your next dose, do so and don’t double up to catch up for missed dose Alfuzosin.
Store Uroxatral (Alfuzosin) at room temperature, far away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store Alfuzosin in the bathroom. Keep Uroxatral out of the reach of children and away from pets.
Uroxatral Safety Information
Do not use Uroxatral (Alfuzosin) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Alfuzosin. Talk to your doctor before using Alfuzosin if you have any kind liver disease or you are taking an alpha-blocker, an azole antifungal, or an HIV treatment. This medication s approved for use only by men. Don not use thismedicatio if you are women. Do not give Alfuzosin to children.
Alfuzosin can cause drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting. So:
- Do not perform any kind of unsafe activity if you took Alfuzosin for the first time
- Do not take alcohol while treatment with Uroxatral
Uroxatral Side Effects
Uroxatral (Alfuzosin) is unlikely to cause any side effects. But the possible side effects are dizziness, drowsiness, headache and stuffy nose. If one of these side effects became bothersome, don’t stop taking this medicine and consult your doctor.
Seek medical attention right away if you took Alfuzosin and experienced a severe allergic reaction, like rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, etc.
If your symptoms do not improve while treatment with Alfuzosin or if they become worse, check with your doctor.
