Propecia is used to treat pattern hair loss in men. Hair loss and prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is often caused by the excessive quantity of dihydrotestosterone in body, which is made of testosterone. This medication prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. So the hair loss stops.
The right dose for you will be indicated by your doctor. But there is one rule for all cases: Propecia must be taken not less than for 3 months. Take Propecia orally with or without food as directed by your doctor.
Propecia must be taken regularly. If you miss a dose of Propecia, take it as soon as possible. However if it is too late and it is almost time for your next dose, do not "double-up" the dose to catch up, just go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Store Finasteride at room temperature (in range between 15-30 C degrees), away from sources of heat, sunlight, and moisture.
Propecia Safety Information
Use Propecia with caution if:
- You have or once had liver disease,
- You have prostate cancer, urinary tract disease,
- You are allergic to any ingredient of Propecia,
- You have other drug allergies.
Do not use Propecia if the pill was crashed or broken because it can be absorbed through the skin and cause side effects.
This medication is for men only. It is unsafe for women, especially for pregnant or nursing women.
Do not share this medicine with other people to whom it was not prescribed.
Propecia Side Effects
Usually patients do not report any side effects of Propecia, i.e. it is well tolerated. However the possible side effects are:
- Impotence;
- decreased sex drive;
- decrease amount of ejaculate.
