Nicotinell is a patch, which is replaced for a new one every 24 hours.
There are several types of Nicotinell with different absorption rates:
- Nicotinell (medium) each contains 35mg of nicotine. Average absorption rate 14mg/24 hours;
- Nicotinell (large) each contains 52.5mg of nicotine. Average absorption rate 21mg/24 hours;
- Nicotinell (small) each contain 17.5mg of nicotine. Average absorption rate 7mg/24 hours.
There is a special program to get rid of smoking habit with Nicotinell. Folow these steps of Nicotinell patch programme. First step is using Nicotinell large patch, e.g. 21 mg/24 hours for 3-4 weeks. Then go to stage 2 and use Nicotinell medium its l4mg/24 hours for 3-4 weeks. After this use Nicotinell small patch, e.g. 7mg/24 hours for 3-4 weeks.
We recommend to chose closed from direct light and free from hair part of skin for patch maybe the front or side of the chest, the back or the upper arm. If it does not stick successfully to these areas you may try it on any other body site (such as the outer thighs or top of the buttocks).
When you place patch, try to avoid areas where the skin creases (such as over a joint) or where the skin folds when you move. Avoid skin which is red or irritated.
Patch must be close to skin.
When you apply the patch onto your skin, nicotine passes through your skin and into your body. The Nicotinell patch programme has 3 steps. Every time you gradually reduce the quantity of nicotine that passes to your body.
If you forgot to place a Nicotinell patch, do this as soon as possible.
Store Nicotinell at room temperature, e.g. about 25 degrees C. Short storage between 15 and 30 degrees C is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
Nicotinell Safety information
- Do not use Nicotinell if you smoke only occasionally.
- Do not smoke while you are using Nicotinell patches.
- Do not use other patches against smoking while you are using Nicotinell.
- Do not smoke while you are pregnant. Nicotinell is preferable to give up.
- Do not use if you are under 18 years of age except on your doctor's advice.
Nicotinell Side effects
Nicotinell usually is well tolerated, but rarely some side effects can occur. The most common side effects are:
- mild stomach upset;
- headache or dizziness;
- difficulty in sleeping;
- muscle discomfort.
