Major corporations help their employees deal with HIV/AIDS epidemic
The Conference Board released the global business research in which it was found that big companies are creating a lot of different programs that aim to help employees to avoid becoming victim of HIV/AIDS epidemic.
The survey included 134 major world companies. The study is based on a survey of 134 leading health-benefits and HR executives. During survey, the in-depth interviews with directors of company were held. Also HIV/AIDS programs were discussed with attorneys specializing in disability and HIV/AIDS law.
The business report says that more than 82 percent of them develop or already have HIV/AIDS programs in order to assist employees suffering from HIV disease and those who are in risk group of infection. The study was held because the HIV epidemic is a real dilemma for corporate world.
As a matter of fact, 67 percent of population of Sub-Saharan Africa including adults and children suffer from HIV. So the development of anti-AIDS programs is very actual for African corporations. More than two-thirds of the surveyed south African companies are affected by HIV/AIDS, with one-fifth of these firms anticipating a growing impact of this epidemic over the next three years.
