University of Michigan Medical School, namely associate professor doctor Kate Walkman has published on her blog the results of new research that studied 6792 men and women of age 35-50 and their activity, way of life, and health.

According to the study, more than 70% of those who has no or very small exercise suffer from high blood pressure. Basing on the data about studied healthy people, she made the following conclusion. Just follow these steps to maintain your general health.

If you have excessive weigh - lose weight. Otherwise try to prevent weight gain. To do this cut down on calories and fat and try to be more physically active than you are now.

Be physically active. But:

Before starting a new sport program check with your doctor to find out if this activity will be safe for you. This depends on your individual health conditions.

Try to do not less than about 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day. Aerobic exercise does not mean that you must go to the gym. You can just walk around in the nearest park. But please do this every day or most days. Start from 5 minutes and then gradually increase the time.

Limit alcohol

Talk to your doctor if your health conditions allow alcohol. Anyway, when you drink alcoholic beverages, limit yourself to one serving a day for women or two servings a day for men.

Stop Smoking

"Talk to your doctor about the best way for you to stop smoking. This may be stop smoking patch or some king of medication, for example Zyban, depending on your level of addiction," Kate said.
