Flu Symptoms and Treatment

Influenza is a viral disease, which usually has epidemic spread between November and April. The standard symptoms which help us recognize flu is: headache accompanied by fever up to 40oC, restless sleep, aching muscles or joints, loss of appetite, chills, indigestion. Dry cough, fatigue, may also appear, as well as runny nose or sore throat. Some people experience even diarrhea and vomiting.

Every patient should understand that each listed symptom taken separately does not necessarily mean you have flu, but any way you need to revert to the doctor and take such measures as drinking as much fluids as possible, staying in bed and sleeping. It is very important to avoid work while you have fever, because it harms your eyes. An experience shows that most effective medicines against fever and muscle aches are Paracetamol, Panadol, Calpol, Ibuprofen (e.g. Nurofen) and aspirin.

If you have a cough, do not smoke and don’t take any alcohol, but take an advice with pharmacist about some OTC medicines to easy cough.

It is necessary to consult the doctor if your flu lasts for more than 7 days, if you want to avoid complications.
