Dental Whitening Essentials

There are different methods used in cosmetic dental work and your dentist can help you decide which one will be the most appropriate in the improvement of your smile.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening or “teeth bleaching”, as it is also called, is a procedure that can brighten and whiten your teeth from discoloration and / or staining. It can be done in the dental office or at home, by your choice. However, it is necessary to consult your dentist first, as not everyone’s teeth can be bleached.

Veneers

A veneer is a thin cover, made out of porcelain or composite material, which is custom made and cemented to the front side of the tooth. A veneer can be applied to cure dental problems such as a slightly crooked tooth, chipped teeth, discolored teeth, or to cover spots between the teeth.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a metal device applied to replace missing teeth. It is usually made out of titanium and is surgically put into the jawbone, on the place of the missing tooth. While a dental bridge is a temporary device, an implant is permanent. It is designed to replace the tooth root and can anchor artificial teeth such as a crown, denture or bridge.

Crowns

Crowns, also called caps, are custom made devices applied to fit over a decayed or broken tooth. They are commonly made out of acrylic or porcelain that has been fused to metal, to resist biting pressure. Dentists use crowns to treat teeth that are badly shaped, decayed or broken, have had large fillings and to cover spaces in between teeth.

Shaping

Shaping, also called “enamel shaping” is the procedure in which the dentist can file or remove some of the enamel to reshape the tooth. As a rule, this process is very effective and not painful.

Bonding

Bonding is the procedure in which tooth colored materials are adhered to the tooth. It can be used to repair or improve the form of a tooth that has been stained, broken or chipped.

Orthodontic Treatment

Today, many adult people are seeking treatment from orthodontists for cosmetic purposes. If you have buck teeth or crooked teeth you should try an orthodontist consultation.
